Many many years ago before I became a boater, my brother was given a yacht. He called it a yacht, and at the time and not knowing anything it sounded great to me as well.
I once took a look at it while it was on the hard in a weedy lot. Upon my unprofessional inspection and ignorance I was still able to deduct that knowing my brother who had no skills, time, or money, that it would be best for him and our family if he walked away from the boat. For this yacht - - as he so liked to speak the word to hear such classy sound roll forth from his tongue - - was neither sea worthy nor land worthy.
He never walked away from his yacht but he never walked toward it as well. His yacht has become a decaying fixture to the weedy now woody lot as part of his contribution to the wildlife preservation effort.
There are many ways to spare oneself and loved ones of nautical pain.

Re: I Wish I Never Bought This Boat
Ah the joys of trying to keep 33 year old unpreserved spruce floor beams from collapsing and dumping my sorry butt into the bilge. All part of the process of turning a sows ear into a more expensive sows ear.

Re: I Wish I Never Bought This Boat
Quick update...Boat has been sold to another dreamer. I am currently disliking winter and saving for anther sail boat, something fiberglass and not needing as much work. I still have my 22 walk around to enjoy boating until the next one comes around.

Steel would be fine also as long as it checked out o.k. No more wood or cement.

I think it's worth 2 cords for the fire place. Today it's covered in snow.

I met a guy who had a friend ....................but anyway, this guy bought or towed away old wood boats just for the brass and bronze. But I don't know if he lived on a boat he wished he'd never bought.

Dont even think about it. You said fibreglass. Go with that. Don't get swayed.
Congrats on the sale!

Re: I Wish I Never Bought This Boat
You guys just don't know how to market. You get two old hulks together, join them, then advertise "Blue Water Catamaran for sale, Needs cosmetics."
