Re: How to get started Cruising!

Aside from the boat what about the training? We want to get a boat, but figured that spending a few years sailing with friends as well as taking ASA courses would prepare us for the eventuality. I am always amazed by those that get the boat before the training. To each their own, but I feel a hell of a lot better capsizing or beaching the ASA sailing course boats then if I bought my own. I can't imagine how crappy it would feel after getting a new boat and beaching it due to lack of experience.

That is the way. Nothing in storage, no home or job to return to.

Nah, Uncle Sam gave me those "free" a few years back, hell not only free, but paid me to take them. Now that's a deal! Still make my living using those "free" skills.

I think I deserve a free flight in something fast (prefereably with a G suit)

Then again re-writing the RYA course should keep you occupied for some time.
