I have acquaintances who circumnavigated on a Nordhavn 46. Fuel alone was $59K about 10yr ago.

As much as you are ready to spend on the project.
It may seems I make fun, but think on it a little.

I asked an ARC participant one time "why?"...as he rushed by on the docks like the rabbit of Alice in Wonderland...he never stopped moving long enough to actually have a conversation, but stated circumnavigating was on his bucket list and he was ticking it off. Why it was on his bucket list I will never know...
This might fit into the 'if you have to ask, you probably wouldn't understand' category. It is a goal that many talk about and few complete. Just like many of the other sporting goals, mountains, marathons, ......

Depends on how long you get held for ransom by pirates in the Straight of Maluku or off the Somali coast.

Or if you stranded on some island with an island girl, It might take at least a week or two longer. Or longer.

Probably so, I have friends who are serious climbers...I dont really get that either. Some who are also sailors. They tend to be very objective oriented when sailing too...we sometimes have to compromise if sailing together.

I get being goal oriented, the physical/mental challenge, the satisfaction of having the skills to pull it off, etc. I just dont get the obession with a dot on the map.

To me whether sailing, trekking, moutain biking, kayaking, or other things I do...Im gratified to have the skills to allow me to make and enjoy the journey, but dont put much priority on the destination.

We set out to go to the Med. A year in the Mediterranean saw our budget so depleted it was time to go home, most obvious way was to carry on Westabout in the trades.

Gents;

My goal is to set the record for the longest slowest most rest stops circumnavigation ever. The early explorers took years, sounds like a good goal.

Respectfully

i like your thinking ! however technically, after how many years in one place does a circumnavigation cease to be 'in progress', and re-start ??

hmmmm ???

cheers,
