Well, no. But I was given my "end of relationship" notice in an email - not much different I reckon.

Re: Hoax eMail from Fellow Cruiser (or not)

If your a convicted and imprisoned religious terrorist, not of UK origin, etc etc etc, you cannnot even be deported from the uk. The latest government attempt to cap welfare benefits to £26,000pa is specifically brought about by this individual, who had a hareem of 'wives' and lived in a mansion in the west end of London with his many children, all at tax payers expense, with the housing costs alone at over £40,000 Pa.

Many west african women have come to the uk when 8 months pregnant, after learning they have a breach baby, specifically to take advantage of the emergency medical care and expertise which under those circumstances is free.

Emergency medical care is always available, usually free. There are no accountants in ER, waiting with a credit card reader to assess a clients ability to pay.

Human rights lawyers would skin anyone alive who stood in the way.

Re: Hoax eMail from Fellow Cruiser (or not)

Whats interesting about this scam is that it involves actual brain activity to conjure up. If I am getting this correctly, someone had to look up the information here, then contact you? A bit scary if you ask me.

My GF's grandmother was duped last year when someone contacted her via phone claiming to be one of her many grandkids and was in a "financial jam overseas". He had all the information he needed to be credible and she unfortunately sent the money via western union in panic. The strange thing is that at 78, she does not use Facebook or even the internet for that matter, so we spent the longest time trying to figure out exactly HOW this person got her information in relation to the person he was imitating. A lot of research was involved, thats for sure.

In the US the ER will turn no one away either.

That does not mean there is no cost involved.

Hello,

This message may be coming to you as a surprise but I need your help.Few days back we made an unannounced vacation trip to London,Uk.Everything was going fine until last night when we were mugged on our way back to the hotel. They Stole all our cash, credit cards and cellphone but thank God we still have our lives and passport.Another shocking is that the hotel manager has been unhelpful to us for reasons i don't know. I'm writing you from a local library cybercafe.

I've reported to the police and after writing down some statements that's the last i had from them.i contacted the consulate and all i keep hearing is they will get back to me. i need your help..i need you to help me out with a loan to settle my bills here so we can get back home, our return flight leaves soon. I'll refund the money as soon as i get back. All i need is $1,850 ..Let me know if you can get me the money then I tell you how to get it to me.

I'm freaked out at the moment!!

I received this from a friend just this morning. Notified him and sent this copy back to him right away. I had been receiving updates, and in fact had gotten one about a half-hour earlier from him concerning work he was doing on his boat. Thus I knew he was in Fl. and not in the UK. The very fact that I received the email was enough to prompt me to change the password on mine again. I usually do this periodically just to keep it from being too easy for a hacker to discover or use a program to unearth it. Apparently, the economy is affecting thieves as well, which is something that brings a little smile to my lips.

We received something similiar from *friends* . It was of course bogus. They were appalled to think all their friends were being solicited in this way. Have to be careful out there in cyber world.
