Hire a "helping hand" in Wilmington, North Carolina?

Hi,

I am just getting into a first sailboat and I need some help getting it together. I'd prefer not to take it to a yard so I can learn how to do it myself, and put money into a fellow cruisers pocket. Things that need to be done are things like electrical rewiring, install battery trays, replace/fix fuel hoses/clamps, fix latches, install a lockout for the holding tank, etc.

Anyone know the best way to go about finding someone that could help me out?

I'd go through a personal reference and avoid dock walkers, just my two cents.

Read, ask questions. It has been done before. Then do it yourself. Then you will know your boat.

Perhaps join a sailing club (not yacht club), befriend members and get the drift of who knows what. Eventually the boat will teach you how to work on it. I know that sounds crazy but often times it just happens. There are a lot of "pros" here that have just one way of doing things, so take all the info you can and formulate your own way of doing it. Ask a lot of questions here.
