Congratulations on your new boat! Island Packet builds great boats.
One thing I encourage people to consider when naming a
boat is how easy will it be to identify over the
radio, be it HF or
VHF. I would definitely discourage the name 'Pay Day'. On the other hand, 'India Papa' would be easy to understand but lacks much meaning. Somewhere I read that 3-syllable
boat names are easiest to understand but I can't remember where I read that.
Quite a few boats are named after stars of which I like the
concept but there are so few pretty star names. Birds are another popular source of
boat names but that makes them almost routine. Adjectives are frequent seen on boats, especially those from the UK - think Steadfast, Resolute, etc.
I find the innuendos towards bodily functions to be immature and sophomoric.
When we picked out the granite for our
galley, the one we chose was named 'Luna Pearl' and I always thought that would make a great name for a boat. No ties to information industry or to Island Packet.
Enjoy your
new boat. May you always find . . .
Fair winds and calm seas.
