I did the the trip from Muskogee to
New Orleans last November in my Wauquiez Pretorien. October would have been better as it was a cold trip.
It was also a
motor boat trip as my air
draft is a bit over 56' so the
mast was on
deck.
Lots of hazards as would be expected.
Navionics seemed to be fairly accurate in most places except Lake Dardenell in Arkansas.
I personally wouldn't do it again unless I had a
shallow draft boat allowing more opportunities for
anchorages. I never was stuck but did bump the bottom a handful of times.
Best
advice I can give is plan your trip so you are not traveling at night due to The Barge traffic.
