Re: Heck Yeah, I Singlehanded!
G'day, it's that sense of self achievement isn't it ? whether it's passing through a lock single handed, nifty bit of boat handling in a marina or a good landfall after a sea passage. I have to be honest I cheat at lifting the anchor, I give a touch on the motor and as she drifts forward, take in the chain, once it's 'up and down' ease forward a touch more to break it out and I'm a sissy I use gloves for the chain. Sod's law, or Murphy's if your Irish, dictates that if you make a cock up in the marina or lock, there's always some feckin smart arse dockhopper who's never been on a boat in his life with some tasty bit of crumpet hanging on his arm standing there with a snide remark. Selective deafness is a blessing......

Well done Eric, great first time achievement. Best way to intimately know your mistress is to spend the night alone with her.

Re: Heck Yeah, I Singlehanded!
I'll bet this post by 'ol Rebel Heart is going to get traction like the one he started and came back 4 hours later with the comment "3 pages and 48 replies... i'm afraid to go back and read any of them!"
I'm guessing Eric is at whatever watering hole he got the password for Wi-Fi, and will return to S/V Rebel Heart finding a load of posts. I know anytime someone does their first offshore or solo passage it brings up a ton of memories for a lot of us.
If you don't remember the post, this it http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ain-76308.html and it went to 181 posts.

Baja Cantina! Will be there Dec 6th. Serioulsy, Baja coast can be daunting. 750nm of rugged coastline with some long fetches. Hat's off to RH! Two days before dropping lines must have been a total adreneline rush!

Eric, Alex, those names can mix ya up. It is that Alex has so many miles under his keels, we would of had to give him those congrats decades ago.

Aim small, miss small. (you asked for it)
RH, you've shoved off in right style. It is a great accomplishment not to be soon forgotten.
