Forestay Tension

replace all my standing rugging and need help on how does one set forstay tension with a roller furling cover the cable.

Possibly by measuring your backstay tension (when there is one). Your forestay tension is proportional. Look up Selden's pdf. All other things equal.

I take it your turnbuckle is not out in the open? I had one like that once, you needed to use the back stay for final tension.

I know one thing. If the forstay is too slack it will be very difficult to roll up the headsail. Very difficult.
