Re: Female sailor's request for ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY
Willow, Yacht mop, you confused the hell out of me by changing your name in the middle of your thread. I had to do a lot of reading to clear up the cob webs. My question to you is about the 65ft. Nirvana. This wooden 65 ft. wooden Monk looking design pull into our docks last fall called Nirvana, located at Page-Point Marina in Ladysmith, BC. I found it to be an interesting boat. Is this the same boat you crewed on? What was it's function at the time? And where was it at the time? I always find the history of older wooden boats interesting.

and if you did you would get 10 replies why solar is better, 8 replies why wind is better, 2 replies telling you you need a catamaran and 2 replies telling you monos don't sail fast.
One guy (or gal) will ask you what type of alternator is it.
On SA 50 guys would ask for pictures of your wife's t**s

Not be a bluewater sailor - everyone knows Hunters explode 10 miles off shore...

Always intrigues me that one as well. The question is why does anybody have to? Cannot we all be free to post what we feel about anything without being told to "harden up" because somebody wants to portray themselves as tough whilst anonymously being a typist? There are more things to life than being able to swap acidic barbs on a free for all website. I had a guy threatening to punch my lights out on another forum because i dared to disagree with his chest beating. We had never met or had any other word jousts. Then i saw him one day, he had posted a pic of himself on the forum, and when i fronted him in person he just turned away and said nothing.
Coops.

The suggestion for a forum poster to be tough is not made because that is the "right" way for a person to be and in a perfect world they should not have to harden up. But in the real world it is a practical suggestion for deriving max benefit from this, or any other internet forum, with minimum personal annoyance. Even on this forum which is as polite as any I know, it is quite possible that at times someone can respond in a way that could be critical or rude or insensitive. Sometimes unintentional but it happens. So why let it bother you? Realize that sometimes some people may not be a sweet and polite, may not like you and don't get you. So what.
What does it matter that some anonymous person on the internet who probably lives 1000 miles away said they thought your avatar picture looked dumb. Ignore the clod and go ask your question about where to get parts for your metric widget.

my eyes were a bit blurry this morning; on the first read I thought you were searching for pants for your widget.
Which might be a gender issue?
