Re: Fake Circumnavigations

Lets also not forget that if the boat has an engine and used it for propulsion at any time, then this also disqualifies the claim of "sailing around the world" though they may claim to circumnavigate.

Re: Fake Circumnavigations

Folks...if you check Zambers previous threads, you can clearly see that he is a troll. He just loves that he can get peoples hair on end here. He has no boat, no life.

So no using an engine to enter a harbor? If I read you right

No, it's a troll.

No one trucks a boat across the Panama Canal, as proposed as a big deal by the OP. It would cost more and take longer by the time you organized the bailouts at each end.

Re: Fake Circumnavigations

People lie about any and everything.

People lie about their golf score.

I am sure they lie about their miles, circumnavigation, single handed or not!

Big deal, they need to live with their lies, can’t see how it effects anyone else!

But yes, lying Troll for sure!

Fun read non the less!

Like the guy who "swam" across the pacific but got on a boat to sleep each night and they motored back to where he got out of the water because the boat drifts at night.

I guess technically if you motor to exactly where you were then it could be allowed. But we all know people don't do this, or are off by a few meters so generally speaking, anyone with an engine is disqualified.

I believe that's just what he did.. Sculling in is a very feasible option, there was a guy used to do that on his Wharram Oro.

Re: Fake Circumnavigations

Yeah, my first cruising boat was a 25' cutter I sailed on Puget Sound for two years without an engine, only a sculling oar. Man that sucked.

Certainly not to describe this guy who is apparently unhappy with some circumnavigators.

So if I'm standing 3' from the North or South Pole, walk in a circle around either, does my 10' perambulation count as a circumnavigation?

Re: Fake Circumnavigations

This Thread just made me realize that I made a circumnavigation in 2016. I navigated by air from Taiwan to Cape Town S.A. via Beijing China. Then I sailed/navigated from Cape Town to Annapolis Md. Then I navigated via air to Texas and then on back to Taiwan, Only took me 6 months. I will not lie though, I did not go solo.
