pirate Re: Experts and Seagulls

After hitting a pea souper on a night sail back from Cherbourg (pre GPS)
I always listen to seagulls...
If it had not been for them I may have piled into Durlston Head... it was only the chatter from the cliffs that alerted me... the sea was like glass...

A flying turtle is a fearsome thing, and they don't land so well... apart from Jonathan Livingston Turtle, who was no ordinary turtle...

But at least they know when to pull their head in.....

Re: Experts and Seagulls

While sailing today (on a boat not a chair) I noticed seagulls flying around a boat that I know has an "expert" at the helm.

So in the end seagulls crap on experts and don't feel bad about it at all.

I like seagulls because they usually start with one pull...

Ah, I'm glad you asked.

It should be noted that ornithologists and other naturalists tend to avoid the term "seagull," since members of the family Laridae are often found far inland. The preferred term is simply "gull."

They are, however, considered "seabirds."

Re: Experts and Seagulls

At an anchorage this weekend where the whole harbor stays lit up at night from buildings along the water having their flood lights on I found: just like experts, if you leave the lights on all night that seagulls will keep talking all night long.
