Dream boat for low price??
(posted in for sale - not my vessel; just an interesting YW listing)
I always believed that you get what you pay for - so I really have to wonder what is going on with this particular YW listing? It is a 2005 Cabo Rico PH for 220K and says it needs to be sold by May 7.
Anyone have any ideas? Sounds too good to be true

NOTE: I keep using YW au because I still like the search functions

Re: Dream boat for low price??
Is that particularly low for that? Looks nice enough but 220k is not a ludicrously cheap price for a 15 year old boat and you have to be into that type. I guess if it needs selling now the best plan is likely to be to drop the price to something more reasonable fast rather than hold out for top dollar.

It has all the bells and whistles......but no watermaker. The ground tackle proves she moves from marina to marina, seeking water I presume.

Re: Dream boat for low price??
Like I said - not my boat; just an ad I came across in YW. There is another one for sale in SoCal one year older and for about 120K more. I just have a hard time seeing where all that difference is.
I don't have a feel for a good price on these - never looked into them. I guess I just found the two diverse asking prices interesting.
Orion Jim brings up a good point - I hadn't looked at the ground tackle very closely on either of them, but if one is significantly different, it could mean life more along a coastal cruiser type.
On edit: I see the one in SoCal has dropped off YW. There was no pending sale notice, so I presume the owner just pulled it until they believe the market can come back up for those boats.

Somebody died, Smokey.
The Marco Island house where she's docked probably has been sold, so there's a deadline to getting her out before new non-sailing owners take possession...
That would be my take...

I'm sorry but $220,000 of Real Dollars doesn't sound cheap to me..! I just get claustrophobic looking at the photos of down below. That would be hard work I reckon.

The difference more than likely is often in the mind of the seller or buyer.

Re: Dream boat for low price??
Looks like it's $220K in Australian Dollars, so $141K USD, if I'm reading that right.

No, you are not reading that right, $220,000 in American dollars, 320,000 and change Australian.

Re: Dream boat for low price??
$220k is BIG money for a 15 year old boat. You can do better.
The worldwide pandemic will also cause prices to drop. What was worth $100k last month may only be worth $75k next month. Depends on how badly the owners need to get out of the boat. Also keep an eye out for boats in the pacific. People sail east for a time and decide that they are done. They often sell those boats at fire-sale prices just to get out of them. I've seen two big AMEL's recently sell for $50k in Polynesia & Philippines. Well below market price. The owners are done. Ready to go home and they want out quick. Starting to see this in the Catamaran market too. There are many fire-sale priced Cat's in the Mediterranean because the charter market is collapsing and the owners need out.

Re: Dream boat for low price??
Nice boat for the right price.
Make an offer for 120.000 $ and see what happens
