Aw, I reckon that if you went around South West Cape you were officially in the Southern Ocean. Ugly bit of rock, ain't it?

And Boatie, WE carry a lot of rum...

Expect to leave PIttwater tomorrow night headed south towards Tassie, but will likely wimp out and stop in Jervis Bay to let the next S'ly change blow through. After that, who knows? Maybe a stop in Eden, maybe straight through to Wineglass or Spring Bay.

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Jim and Anne
Oh, a pang of homesickness here LOL. I haven't anchored in Wineglass Bay, only walked the Freycinet Peninsula and looked longingly into that bay. When you are there, have a drink for two Aussies who are a long way from home at Christmas time.

Safe passage.

For those of you unfamiliar with this neck of the woods, this is Wineglass Bay (not my photo):

Hi, Sailorlass,

"I'd looked longingly into that bay. When you are there, have a drink for two Aussies who are a long way from home at Christmas time." Yup. Lovely view from the south there, and thank you for your good wishes, and we'll try to remember you on the holiday.

Actually, I'm not sure I should thank you for the photo: now EVERYone'll want to come there!

Have a good holiday season.

Another plan shoot to pieces; just found out the Wooden Boat Show is on the second weekend in Feb, not the first (like I thought) and that nominations for floating boats closed in October so prolly wont get there this time after all.

Still planning to send most of January sailing in the southern isle though and hope to catch up with a few CF members while there.

Now if I could only work out a way to avail myself of all the free beer that Boatie passed up on by being in such a hurry..........

And oh, last time I will leave rum on-board.....

Actually, you raise an good question Jim, I thought Boatie went east across Bass Straight from Port Fairy and then down the east coast but you know, I never confirmed that with him - he could have slipped down the west coast from Port Fairy - but I doubt it - it would have been too cold......

Boatman???????

Was heading back down S from Cape Otway down the side of Kings Island but wind swung further S and started pushing me to close for comfort so turned N and went over the top and across Bass... then down through Banks Strait.. lovely crossing with dolphins and seals gambolling around the boat as I chugged across in a 5kt breeze..
After seeing that photo of Wineglass wish I'd stopped for a break now...
Enjoy Tassie Jim.. and Geof... I know you will regardless...

Back to the original topic of this thread, thought some here might enjoy these:

Argentine crew to vacate ship seized in Ghana - Americas - Al Jazeera English

Detained Argentine Frigate Libertad - Ghana

Guess Boatie's not alone, although probably much more deserving of getting paid.

*Me* thinks someone in the judiciary suddenly got himself a fat bank account in one of the off shore banking heavens - you know - the ones where the rest of the world's long fingers don't reach.

Well Folks... its been fun but its over...
Settled at 80% and paid my own way home...
I could have held out for the lot but figured getting the *Monkey of my Back* before the New Year was more important... that way I only carry through all the good stuff from 2012.
Thanks again for all your support... it meant more than you'll ever know... the $'s proved very useful but the real boost came from the surge of moral support from around the world... even my Lawyers decided its a Pro-Bono case... good old CocksMacnish of Perth. WA.
Cheque's in the mail....
So its back to the dull boring posts that are my norm...Sorry...
