Re: Cruising and Sailing Advocacy Groups in Hawaii

Usually, it is up to city and town councils to appoint a “sentinel" for handling of quarantine protocols. Often it is the Harbor Master for the port that is appointed by the City / Town council or mayor. The State officials rarely engage in port administration and rely on municipal public health services and the LEOs where enforcement is required, such as to deal with the Covidiots.

I don't know if the current state-level rules and policies are documented anywhere

Not Just Yachties, but Cruise ships were denied passenger disembarkation. By order of the Governor. Included vessels Marsdan and Norwegian Jewel back both about 18 March.

Hawaii is a great place for Montanans to go during winter. My favorite is Kauai.

Hawaii and Montana have the least cases per capita and also very few deaths. The aggressive lockdowns have tamped out the spread. We will see whether our partial easing will result in a resurgence. We are between seasons as to visitors, Ski season is over and the county with the major ski resorts was hardest hit by Covid-19 due to out of staters and celebrities bring in the contagion on their way to the mansions in the mountains at Big Sky and Yellowstone Club.

Summer will be interesting to see if the National Parks will have their usual massive draws, but if lodgings are ordered to stay closed to all but essential travelers then no tourism will arise, 4 to 5 times greater tourists to native population in the summer months.

I read an article today that predicts Hawaii to have great attraction after the pandemic because of its ease of travel and being a State and all whereas international travel will lag.

I have to admit shopping is very different, wearing face masks and having to follow the proper direction down the grocery isles and limitations of occupancy. My business travels to China have been suspended and our Chinese clients are just getting back to work having been sequestered in their apartments for 50 to 60 days not even going out into the hall way.

Re: Cruising and Sailing Advocacy Groups in Hawaii

We are in Ko Olina. Some boats from French Polynesia have been allowed in.

The marina is very safe from weather and crime.

There is a two-week quarantine. Time at sea does not count here, but others on the docks have been fetching groceries for those in quarantine.

You will need insurance. No permanent liveaboards are being accepted, but those who are waiting to leave again are accepted.

DM me for more info.

Re: Cruising and Sailing Advocacy Groups in Hawaii

I looked at the guest rates for Ko Olina the other day, over $100 per day!? You can pay a mortgage on a house in Hawaii for that....seems rather steep....and electricity is extra. Guess i am in the wrong income bracket. Hopefully the plandemic is under control by the time i am able to sail back to Hawaii, as the bureaucracy is hard enough to take under normal circumstances. May we all navigate safely through this....
