Cruise music?

Does anyone have any playlists or songs they can share that they would consider "cruise music"? What comes to mind for me is the jazz you tend to hear in the bars and atriums.. or songs like "What you won't do for love" and "Beyond the sea". My friend at Apknite - Gordon said that I should listen to anything by Jimmy Buffet, most line dance music played on the deck at night works! It's a good example of what puts me in a cruising mood but I would love to hear everyone else's.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Cruise music?

We have 3 onboard, so it varies quite a bit: one wife hits the yacht rock playlists (80s rock, Duran Duran, toto, journey, gotta love it), the other old jazz (Ella, Monk, etc). When it's my turn to man the player, it's CCR all the way.... Whether dropping into Nam or sailing into storms or crowded marinas, you just can't beat Credence

Re: Cruise music?

Music is such a personal thing, but shortly after getting our boat the hubby and I discovered this song. It has since become something we play when we want to just laugh and laugh. Cheers!

Re: Cruise music?

My playlist covers just about every genre except the commercial pop rock, country and rap. In one day you might hear Tom Petty, Coltrane, Bach, Bela Fleck, Miles Davis, Puccini, Hank Williams, Miles Davis, Beatles, Bach, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Beethoven and ...... but I think you get the picture.

Basically whatever you like can be cruise music. Then there are times when the only music you need is wind and wave.

Re: Cruise music?

I like Caribbean steel pan, preferably from Trinidad Panorama. Check out the hundreds on YouTube. I had some playing in Prince Rupert Bay and the boat boys were dancing as they motored past.

And, there’s this one, everybody’s favorite. I like to have it blasting at max as we set anchor in a formerly quiet harbor.

Re: Cruise music?

For your own sanity you have to change the genre each day, personally I have a selection of classic 80s, modern pop, rock, dance and everything in-between incase I get bored loaded up on spotify.

Well, pick your own favorites, but I understand that whales prefer Enya.

Re: Cruise music?

Another way of doing it.

Friends of mine, sail each year twice a period of 3 months, and the other 2 periods of 3 months they go home to their family/grandchildren/work commitments etc. So, 3 months on, 3 months off. For each trip (while they sailing around the world) they select a new set of music and videos.
That way each passage/trip will be identified by a particular kind of music/flavour. Yes, the music choice is strongly influenced by the region they are sailing in/through.

And when at home, playing back a few songs then immediately the memories of that particular trip/passage is recalled. That way, the adventures can be replayed a thousand times.

Hehehe, don't know how many portable harddrives they have, quite a collection I assume, as they have been underway for 6 years +
