I want to, I believe with the food and water normally on a liveaboard boat along with what you can catch, it's certainly possible.
One thing I remember from one of my Survival classes is don't stand when you can sit and don't sit when you can lie down. Basically a person that knows how to be lazy, is a little over weight, with minimum food and some water can survive a very long time in temperate weather conditions

I don't think it that odd that he looks okay. I've done so high altitude mountaineering. I have found that when surviving in the mountains (yes, much of the time when mountaineering you are in survival mode), the first 10 or 15 days really suck and really hurt. After you're body adjusts to the altitude, your mind adjusts to the hard ship etc, things start to get easier. There's a point where it becomes less about survival and more about enjoying the sport.

My guess would be its possible this guy fought through the hard part and developed a relatively comfortable routine. Although his survival might have been very frustrating he may have figured out a rhythm and a routine that agreed with his body and mind.

If you are ever lost in the woods, stick with the fat guy, he will find food! If he doesn't you can always kill him and eat him, he will be nicely marbled.

That and what I find most important is if you come across a bear you don't have to out run the bear you just have to out run the fat friend

Any Military always loves the skinny, almost professional athlete / runner. You know the guy that always finishes the Company runs at the head of the pack, smiling.
Well, the Brits learned something very interesting during the Falkland islands campaign. You see apparently during that little field exercise they had to walk long distances, in cold weather and carrying heavy loads, something they had not done in a very long time. Guess what? Almost without exception the guys that did best doing that were not the semi pro athlete runners, it was the fat guys that almost always finished in the back of the pack in the Company runs, the ones who had to "gut" out ever run, but made it.
Several theories came from this, maybe the fat guy was simply tougher mentally and could dig deep and gut out the hard things as he was used to it., maybe his load was easier for him to carry as it was lighter as a percentage to his body weight?

Good to know, a64. I am supremely qualified. Maybe I wont add those dirty clothes (for fishing) to my abandon ship bag. I'm probably too lazy to fish anyway.....
