Canvas Work

Hi, everyone, I beg your indulgence a moment.

CF has a Social Group, and it's about canvas work projects, but it is so hidden, hardly anybody ever finds it! This bugs me, 'cause some neat DIY projects are so hidden.

Here's a post I made about a now 4+ yr. old dinghy cover of the chaps variety...I thought I'd bring it into the mainstream, for a minute or two. Sorry I didn't get back to wingless.

At this point, 4 yrs. into the new pvc tubes on our formerly hypalon tubes, I need to report about my WeatherMax material. Last time we were up the Clarence River, perhaps August 2018, I noticed the WM is getting fragile. Now, it is only guaranteed 5 yrs, so, maybe to be expected. It is also noticeably faded. It has become fragile, and snagged and tore a rectangular tear, which I have patched.

Conclusion: If I make another dinghy cover, I'll make it out of Sunbrella. I know the Sunbrella will go 10 yrs. Other than that, the WM dries very fast, and one rarely has to sit on a wet tube. Sapient Sue put good quality retroreflective tape on her new cover, and it works a treat.

Ann
