Question Bob Lush

Does anyone know what became of Bob Lush, who completed the 1980 OSTAR in a Shark? There is a nice 45-minute movie about him, and sailor extraordinaire Mike Birch, that you can watch on-line: Singlehanders.

Earlier on he apparently completed the 1977 and 1979 Bermuda One-Two, also in the same Shark (originally called Poco, then renamed Olympus Sailing Canada).

I have also see reference to Lush sailing a Bayfield 32 in the 1976 OSTAR ("From family cruiser to single-handed Transatlantic"); however, the race results don't mention him or his boat, and the Singlehanders movie implies that the 1980 OSTAR was his first time in that race.

Re: Bob Lush

Thank you for asking.
I retired from the 9 to 5 thing back in '91. I chased the sun for 15 years aboard my custom Peterson 37' SixPacToo wintering in the Virgins and summering in Catskill NY. Generally via Bermuda - my favorite island. All single-handed which brought my total mileage up to almost 300,000.
To keep out of the pub I wrote novels. Sailing novels. I have three now listed with Amazon kindle. I think they're $3@ and since you're a sailor you might find them interesting.
Pac got too much for me about six years ago and I moved to Montreal to be near one of my daughters.
Thank you for introducing me to this sight. Although not active anymore I still am interested in following.
Cheers.

Howdy Bob! I see this is your first post in the forum, so welcome aboard!

I hope you will stick around and share some of your experiences with us.

300,000 is a lot miles on the water and I am sure many here would learn something from you.

With sincere respect,
Steady

Correct on both counts. Welcome!

Thanks for replying, and nice to know that you are going strong. I will look up your novels.

Bob Lush is living in Montreal. I interviewed him for my blog:
