Cruisers to the rescue! The
monohull dragged
anchor into the catamarans
anchor chain causing them to be tangled up, dislodge the cats anchor. Now both were adrift in 30
knot gusts in the middle of a crowded Monument anchorage in George Town
Bahamas.
About a dozen dinghy’s responded and guided both boats(pushing, and pulling) to the edge of the anchorage. Once the
boats were clear of other
boats the helpful dinghy’s deployed secondary anchors to stop them from drifting and create slack in the tangled anchor chains.
The
Captain of MV Ocean Life
scuba dove both boats to untangle them. CRISIS AVERTED! 👍🏼
the
boating community always seems to rise up when others are in need of help. It’s truly special.
*Picture note* by the time this picture was taken the boats involved had been safely guide to the edge of the anchorage and the secondary anchors had been deployed. Many dinghy’s had already left when this picture was taken and 12 is a conservative estimate of just how many cruisers responded to help.
