App for offshore virtual regatta

Our club organizes a few offshore events every year which have some virtual gates and a virtual finish line.
When a boat passes a gate or finish line it takes a picture of the GPS with position and time visible and sends it to the race committee.
After the race the race committee checks all the pictures and determines the race time of each boat according to the pictures and whether or not it passed all the gates properly.
The disadvantages are obvious. I am looking for an app which can help mechanise the entire process.
I am not looking for a simple tracking app which would require a lot of work for the committee boat, but a more specific solution.
Anyone knows of that kind of app?

Don't know of anything, but it would be dead simple to knock something up. Would Android be OK or do you need it to work on iThingies?

(Thinks: something similar to this would have solved the problems we had with the time keepers in last weeks 3 Peaks Race Guess I've got yet another project for when I get a bit of spare time. )

SailGrib WR has a virtual regatta mode, but Ive never played with it.

I was just hoping maybe there was something already made.

what we developed is "exactly" this.

(at the moment Android only)

Developed at the sailing club of Lugano, Switzerland, the system enables to define 1 mile virtual regatta fileds on lakes and sea.
the app notfies the sailor when he cross the start line, show the distance of the second line, and sends the result time to the commetee when he cross finish line.
All results are automatically linked to sailor photo, tracked map, time, max speed ..
All results are stored server side and classments are generated automatically.
The system enable to enter boat rating so to correctly manage different boat types, surfers, etc.
The app sends push notifications and emails and emails to all users that already participated on the same track, when users start new attempts and when users records new bets time.

A specific web page displays classments for each track defined in the system.
The definition of regatta longer of 1 mile is of course possible..
