Ya the board walk is nice, I just miss the ol days when I was a hatch rat and the fisherman and all the hustling around getting ready for the first opening of the season.

If that is the one in Cooper's fleet, I have sailed her. Very nice.

Re: Anyone living on the north van isl?

Didn't even hear anything until after the warning was lifted. A co-worker said it felt like he was on a boat. I said I didn't feel it because... I am on a boat. lol

Re: Anyone living on the north van isl?

A few years ago (after the Phuket tsunami)I was docked at Page Point Marina across from Ladysmith and having diner with friends when the waitress came over and informed us that the RCMP had issues a tsunami warning after an earthquake off California. We were to either slack the dock lines or anchor off.

As I was walking down to the boat, I realized that the the wave would have to get to the mouth of Juan de Fuca and turn 120 degrees, then come down Juan de Fuca and turn again up Haro Strait, then through Satellite Channel and Stuart Channel before getting to us.

I slacked the lines a little and went back to our meal.

Re: Anyone living on the north van isl?

Well apparently they evacuated the marina next to ours and said they were surprised that we never heard anything as all the big fishing vessels left the dock for open water. Yet they failed to alert us. Don't we feel special!

I hope they stay in business, they went bankrupt earlier this year
It's a really hard hit industry
