Anyone know what happened to bluewaterboats.org?

Maybe it has been brought up before and I missed it, but anyone know if the website is gone for good?

Re: Anyone know what happened to bluewaterboats.org?

It looks like the URL has gone un-renewed for the hosting of this page. The last activity on other social media platforms was as of 2016, as far as I could find in a quick search of the good old internet...just a malingering death it seems. Too bad. The page was 10 years and 10 days old...so maybe a 10 yr URL subscription that went unpaid.

I enjoyed browsing there from time to time. Sorry to see it go...

Thanks for that. Yes I saw they hadn’t been updating anything for the last couple years. Sorry to see it go too.

Re: Anyone know what happened to bluewaterboats.org?

If this is related to Bluewater Rallies, they closed in 2010 after one of the yachts on the World Rally was boarded by Somali pirates who murdered all four on board including Phyllis who crossed the Atlantic on my yacht in the first part of the Rally.
The US Navy was involved as well.
All very sad.

It does look like it disappeared... That's a real loss - it was a great website, and well put together. I would wind up spending hours paging through the boats. Someone put a lot of work into it, and I wonder what happened with it too.

The Internet Archive shows the last snapshot being July 2019.
You can still see most of the site using the archive.

I subscribed to B/W last January a year ago and used a credit card. I never got a single issue. Called them 3-4 times and was told they would be mailing a magazine out soon and they would extend my subscription. Last October 2019 I received a check from Blue Water as a refund with no explanation !

Re: Anyone know what happened to bluewaterboats.org?

I brought this up on another thread and someone posted the new site. I’ll have to go back and check and I’ll repost it here.

I'm still trying to get the bluewaterboats.org domain, but in the mean time, I've made all the content available at https://sailboat.guide/blue-water-boats.

If anyone has any any connections to the original author, let me know.

Thanks for all you've done. It's a great site - easy to spend hours looking around and dreaming.
