Another Liveaboard Marina Gone...

Can't make sense out of the FL submerged lands rule that limits liveaboards to 6 months per year. More pressure added to the few marinas left that can accommodate liveaboards...

Re: Another Liveaboard Marina Gone...

couldn't read the article

But don't see how the upcoming law and a marina are the same. BTW I have read the actural law and it is pretty clear and if you think there is a hard 6 month limit you probably haven't read it.

As a full time cruiser who has been spending most on my time in Fl the last few years I am 100% for the new rules.

Do you have a link to some of this new legislation?

Would love to see what the latest looks like.

Also, I have noticed that every one of these laws in Florida is selectively enforced and the law enforcement does a great job of it. They know who is the problem and who is not.

In Miami Beach especially. Those water cops know exactly what’s going on on the water. They know who is camping out in meth labs on the water, and who is cruising. They know the difference. They welcome to cruisers. They put those stickers on the meth labs.

I am not signing up in order to read it. Have already read enough of these while I was in the Keys past winter.

BTW - you know the cause of anchoring restrictions and marinas deciding to not allow liveaboards? It is the boaters.

Yeah, it's a shame but those liveaboards have essentially been in violation of state law for years. Nothing good lasts forever.

That's correct. Many, if not most, slips and marinas in Florida are built on submerged land that is leased from the state and administered by Florida Dept of Environmental Protection.

Below are two relevant clauses from all leases defining what constitutes a liveaboard (more than 10-days a month) and the 6-month per year limit. These clauses have been in these leases for decades.
