$500K is not a lot for “expensive” boat

Forget this desire. To undertake true deep blue passages you need experience, not just money and good luck. Maybe a cruise with a major company will be more appropriate to suit your dreams.

Amazing that some don't recognise this as humour.

Oh,
I really really really recommend a Brick.

B = Bada...sss
R = Racer
I = Inexpensive
C = Cocksure
K = a Keeper

Of course when you show up sailing a Brick, you will command a lot of notice and respect from everyone.

And, if you ask a clarification question, like, "What's your budget?" They ignore it. Funny enough, that is going on in another thread right now.

Whatever you buy, make sure it has Full Self Driving. Any boat that doesnt have that is not what you want. Insist on it! Sure, you still need to stay close to the wheel and grab it if it does something dumb, but its well worth the additional $15k or so. If you dont have Full Self Driving, life is just not worth living.

For those long looong bluewater voyages, it’s basically essential to upgrade your multihull with the ‘jettison hull’ option. Trash bags and empties piling up after months at sea? Partner’s voice grating on you like a broken violin scraped on a chalkboard? Shifty crew members always muttering together, casting meaningful glances?

Simply muster them to the chosen hull, enter the command code and press the red button. Et voila. Bon voyage. And peace returns.

wonderful! At last, a compelling reason to own a multihull!

This is soooo good. It's the 1st time I read all of the posts. Can I also recomend a manual auto pilot with Google maps built in. Just I case there is a traffic jam on the bridge you can re-route.

I suggest multiple masts, just in case one or two break off during those wild blue water events!

Re: Another Idiotic "What Boat Should I Buy?" Thread

WOW who would have believed it. By an enormous coincidence I have EXACTLY the boat you are looking for. Obviously I can't post the details here publicly or everyone will want it but if you PM me I will provide you with a bank account to deposit the money. It's only $490,000 so you will have a saving of $10,000 to spend on decorations and your essential nauticalia related attire.
