Sometimes it’s hard to tell if authorities are addressing legitimate problems associated with derelict boats, navigation hazards, or interested overboard discharges or protecting the scenic view of waterfront homeowners.

Keeping access to free anchoring in public waters is important to cruisers. The Seven Seas
association has been carrying the weight to lobby against Florida legislature an Governor’s efforts to restrict anchoring. You’d think they might address the detrimental water discharges from lake Okeechobee, massive phosphate waste pit release in Tampa Bay, or dead sea grasses in Indian River lagoon, but anchoring laws are an easier target with a moneyed constituency.
