Key West Update:
Voyage Update: Sunday July 22
A few days ago I sailed from Georgetown
, Cayman Islands
to Key West Florida
, and then on to St. Simonís Island.
Sailed nonstop from Grand Cayman to Key West, where we spent a day and night for refreshments. This was my first time to visit Key West and I enjoyed it. We were in a marina close to the action. Spent a few hours walking the streets, enjoyed seeing the old architecture (Customs House, private homes) and gardens, I looked in some art galleries, had a few beers, enjoyed the people we met, and spent a few hours in the famous Sloppy Joeís bar listening to some live music
. Had a nice dinner, met some beautiful women from Eastern Europe
and New York
, had a Mojito and Key Lime Pie, met a few Hemingway lookalikes (nice guys) and generally had a good time.
Key West is a great place for visiting boaters, with a well deserved reputation.
From Key West we sailed nonstop offshore
to St. Simons Island.
Then went offshore
again to Charleston South Carolina.
Leaving tomorrow to continue our voyage north to Chesapeake.
