"New
Mooring Field Comming to King Harbor"
So reads the headline from the most recent edition of The Log, a SoCal
boating paper. All quotes are from The Log... thelog.com
"This will make King Harbor a more appealing stopover for boaters cruising up the coast"...
and at only at $2.00 per foot per night as opposed to $0 per ft. currently!
Again, as above, quoting Redondo Beach Harbor Director Pete Carmichael, "Hopefully it brings those folks to the restaurants, hotels and amenities in Redondo Beach."
You mean like a number of boaters have been doing already by anchoring for free?
It will cost me $80.00 just to pull in for some grocery
shopping. Local cruisers on fixed incomes will be losing a really pretty and convenient
free supply stopover and cool place to just duck out of the
weather for a couple of days or an intentional stopover for a night on the town.
Such a great spot and I would recommend that any local boaters who haven't visited (btwn Marina Del Rey and L.A. Harbor) make the trip as we will be losing another mellow place that reflects something very posative about what the cruising life... however modest...can be.
"Predictions of economic benefits that could come from the addition of a
mooring field were estimated at $689,000 in additional revenue"
Goodbye to one of my favorite anchorages
