Boats coming into Florida can be here 90 days before state registering assuming they are registered in another state. Otherwise they have 30 days. Regardless of whether they are documented or not they have to display the registration sticker.

The problem with a lot of derelict boats is a lot aren't registered at all and it can not be determined who owns it

Part of the problem with these threads is non Florida people

One of the biggest points about this idea is to get rid of anchoring restrictions. Gone. Wouldn’t that be nice?

The same cops are already coming up to you to tell you how long you can anchor and kick you out of the harbor when the time is up.

Instead of all of that, better to just make the boater responsible for their boat. Then there is no more government interference.

Until you create a derelict boat. Then they should crush you.

You say a (secondary) effect/objective is to remove anchoring restrictions. That would be a hard fight, because there is money and established power involved in anchoring restriction, possession is 9/10 of the law stylee.

Unless the restrictions encroach on pre-existing rights, giving the possibility of legal challenge, it seems unlikely to happen.
