5-year USCG online renewal???
This is an old topic by now, unattended for 5 months or so, elsewhere, so I'm starting over here.
I've been in a recursive loop attempting to renew for 5 years on line.
Maybe it can't be done. Maybe it has to be printed out and mailed in. My MIL got a renewal form in the mail for us but we won't be back until long after our current COD has expired.
But, surely, as it seems to have been done before, is there a link I can follow which will direct me to OTHER THAN single year renewals? Or which has a place to identify something other than a single year renewal?
I'll save the obfuscation which would result in my posting of all the NVDC or equivalent URLs which DON'T work here, but suffice it to say I cannot find a way to do a 5-year renewal.
TIA and HAND...
Skip, hopeful

Re: 5-year USCG online renewal???
Currently you can only do a year renewal on line. 5 year is still requires paper.

Even the paper method is not quite clear......
There is no place on the renewal form to indicate how many years you want to renew for.
The instructions are: make the check out for the number of years of renewal, and then write how many years you want in the check memo line....

I think I also wrote somewhere on the form that I wanted five years. It worked, and I got the five year documentation renewal. I'm sure it will be smoother in the future, but right now it requires paper, an envelope, and a stamp. But the end result was worth it to us.
Cheers!

Re: 5-year USCG online renewal???
I renewed last year for five years. It required a doctor's sign off. I downloaded the forms, signed them, and sent them off.

Re: 5-year USCG online renewal???
Well, two things.
Over in that other forum (CF segment not this one), someone said that they'd used their phone number and managed to make it happen that way.
In our case, it's now moot, as the Admiral, of the "Lord give me patience, but I want it RIGHT NOW DAMMIT" school did the single-year online renewal.
However, others reading this thread may benefit from it, later.

Re: 5-year USCG online renewal???
Be very, very careful. There is a website out there that looks a lot like the USCG site that offers multiple year renewal - but they charge over $70/year. I fell for it but fortunately only signed up for 2 years. They did deliver the 2 years but I had to remind them the second year. A rip off and deceptive.

yes it's available and you can do it during purchase as it's going to be a paperwork send in

I'm not sure that's how it works........ The previous owners documentation will end, and you or your agent, will start a new documentation process. You can now document the boat for one to five years....... It's your call.

Re: 5-year USCG online renewal???
I got one.. I just called the documentation center and asked how to do it. The docs had to be in a pdf and sent in through an email. The payment was 130 through the govt web site. Not a big deal.
Sure is a lot of strange answers from the armchair crowd....

I fell for that too. Then I canceled the credit card transaction, got boat US and the coast guard involved. I got my money back. I urge anybody that falls for it to fight back.
