Who will Insure moored vessel for 3rd Party only, in Oz

I was with GIO.

Recently we sold Orca and got a little Top Hat as a minder until we fing the next vessel.

I called GIO and said I had sold Orca and wanted to transfer the insu to Topi. Sorry, we do not insure moored vessels any more !

Gee, thanks for telling us about the policy change. "Oh, we would of informed you at renewal time that we would no longer insure you".

So, it appears nigh impossible to find an insurance company that will insure a moored vessel for Third Part Insu (not comprehensive).

Has anyone had success recently (this year). The changes came into effect in Sept 2013.

Currently uninsured.

Must be a lot of others in the same situation.

Try TIO they insure boats over the phone. Just be smart, insure for a small value and you get some 3rd party for free. They also give some refund if you discontinue.

Thanks for that, however I called TIO this morning & they will only cover vessels residing in the Territory.

Comprehensive insu is just not worth pursuing as the Top Hat is just not worth it, & we may not have it that long.

I was more interested in the liability and 3rd Party components. With comprehensive, I would have to have a survey, rigging redone, etc.

Great, looks like you may have something there. I spoke to them on the phone & am filling out the forms and see what happens.
