where to look online for East coast boat?

Hi,
I'm an Aussie. I've just sold out of my business and want to buy a boat on the East coast of the US. Is there a main site where all the brokers list? In Australia we have Boat Point which aggregates for all the broker sites.
Is there an equivalent in the US?
thanks
JMB

New and Used Yachts for Sale - YachtWorld.com

This would be the one to use if you only use just one. These are all and only broker sold boats. It should keep you busy. It also has a great search tool.

If you want a very knowledgeable broker in NY area who has been sailing for 40 yrs, lives aboard, runs a boat yard / marina, races and has many trophies, imports Le Comte PM for contact info. Great all around guy and he just sold a boat to a man in Bermuda.

Hi JMB,

You will find boats scattered pretty much all over the east coast of the US but most concentrated in 3-4 areas.

south Florida - Miami-Ft Lauderdale
mid coast - Annapolis-Washington DC
northeast/New England - this is spread out from NJ up to Boston for the most part including Newport and Connecticut
Gulf Coast, mainly Tampa-St Pete area and Houston.

Otherwise there are boats everywhere in between from Maine to Key West and around to the Texas-Mexico border. The four areas above will have the most in the smallest area to keep your travel down. The suggestion to search on yachtworld.com is where I would start.

Good luck in your search.

Boats.com has a search engine that lets you narrow your search to the US East coast. That's where I found my boat.

Check out www.roguewaveyachtsales.com
They are a small specialty broker in Annapolis, MD and they only deal with high-quality cruising sailboats

New Boats And Used Boats For Sale By Owner And From Dealers These guys have a lot of listings in South Florida by brokers & owners. I would suggest that S Florida will be where you find the best deals and the slimiest brokers and sellers, so hunt well, ask a lot of questions, and expect to be lied to. I would also highly recommend Craigslist, which is mostly private sellers.

My goodness. What a cynical attitude. You have been living in S Florida for too long. You need to get over to the islands for a little underwater R&R.

True that. S Florida gets at you after awhile. A little cruise would be just what the doctor ordered. Of course, we were struck by lightning Weds while I was out of town and so now have to work on wiring instead of getting the cabin sole back in, so that probably adds to the bad attitude.

How'd your survey go?

Thanks!

Thanks all, great info. I'm already looking at Yacht world. I'll PM for those contacts too. I've got a bunch of other questions about transfer of title, registrations etc and my intended plans, but I'll search before posting them.

cheers
