What's Wrong with Starting the Dream Down Under ?

Anyone getting close to buying their boat and joining the dream lifestyle should consider starting it in New Zealand. Excellent crusing location and climate outside of the hurricane zone. Good selection of offshore cruising vessels. Reasonaable cost of living; provisioning, boat maintenance, marinas, etc. No mandatory yacht registration (or health insurance for that matter). Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Australia only a week away on a 50 footer. Why wouldn't you give it serious consideration? Cheers.

In the current market, the USA/Caribbean/Mexico area has some fire sale prices compared to here in Aus. What is the NZ market like right now?

Your comments are dead on. They make great boats, are fine folks, and the sailing grounds are close. Add in a good exchange rate and it's a real possibility for many.
