This right here ^^^

We skipped new boats altogether after a short look at total coasts. We purchased our current boat in 2015, refit her and have not looked back, total expense, including refit was more than fifty percent less than any new purchase price for a similarly sized and equipped new sailboat.

The used market is where the value is, being that the prices are no longer going up, and that prices are currently starting to go down, it will be a near total buyers market in two years.

Fair winds,

Re: Used boat market 2nd half 2022?

Econ 101 says boat sales are going to be garbage this year except at the very top. Money isnt cheap right now and most people are going to finance expensive boats. Higher interest rates = lower sales. That doesnt mean deals are about to be everywhere.. inflation means higher costs so next years boats are probably going up.. even if you put down a deposit theyre calculating at todays costs.

I think for the next 2 or 3 years lower cost used boats are going to be a steal (cash buyers) but new boats are going to rise in cost even while sales are down. For the reason BBill stated.
