We were in marina del sol for a few years. At the time we were there there were two camps. The row of boats that were well kept and used regularly and the others that never moved and were in various states of disrepair. Once we were in there the only time insurance came up was for lease renewal.

I inquired with my home owners insurance company, Allstate, and they did not think they could do it and referred me to Lloyds of London.

This seems like solution if you can find an underwriter willing to take it on. Have you found one yet?

I think most marinas overseas would accept that policy document.

Re: Third Party Liability Insurance for older sailboats?

Finally concluded this insurance quest with a local Greek broker.
He also tried to get us a full coverage but to no avail.
Another broker from UK did also try with no luck.
Either too old of a boat , or wrong flag.
Therefore , since we plan cruising Greece for several years to come, a properly marine written Third Party Liability from a Greek broker sounded the best way to go. For now.
Also quite reasonably priced. I take it that as of now, my hull deductible is equal to the market value of our boat.

Since we tend to address ourselves vast majority of our needed maintenance/repairs, I guess we can go quite a way to save our boat once back in a yard.
Unless you have deep pockets and no spare time, it is better to also like doing the work when needed

I will certsinly keep a good lookout while under way but also ashore for this insurance market to vome back to sense .

Hello GreenHeaven !

Try mgavalas7@gmail.com

The name is Markos Gavalas.
The contact was provided by our yard in Poros.

If difficult to contact, come back to me, I could send you a portion of our contract bearing the particulars, but it is mostly in Greek.
Our boat is ashore at Poros Yachting Center.
For the time being and until this marine insurance business may return to normal , this 3rd Party coverage ‘limited to Greek waters !’ Was the best we could get :/
