Hello
My european built 2005
Beneteau Oceanis 361 is currently in
Antigua.
I am currently checking the options what to do after the upcoming season and one option would be selling her in the US.
Does anybody have experience in selling a european
boat in the US?
I am particularily interested in what
taxes i need to pay and other bureaucratic issues. I have heard the
boat can only stay for a limited time in the US?
Also i would be grateful for any tips about convenient places (marinas/boatyards/brokers) where to put the boat
for sale along the southern eastcoast.
I understand its maybe not the best time to sell a boat now but on the islands I think it is worse than in the US. (A potential buyer in
Antigua would have to quarantine in an expensive
government approved
hotel for 14 days prior to just having a look at the boat)
But then also in
Europe i have heard that boat prices are going up because there are a lot of potential buyers so who knows.
I wouldnt mind selling it for a few thousand less than it could sell in
europe.
One further issue is that its a 220V boat but i believe that can be changed relatively easily. by changing the
battery charger and the outlets or put a transformer in.
Thank you for any input
