Hello,
The time has come to start thinking about selling our
catamaran.
As we are about to
haul out in Trinidad for the usual yearly
maintenance, we need to start planning our last season on the
water as well. After we are done in Trinidad we will be sailing directly to
Puerto Rico, then
Bahamas. We intend to put the
boat on the market around February so we can be back to
Europe in time for the summer holiday. It will be a private
sale with no
broker involved.
My question is - where is it best to take the
boat to attract most potential customers? Boat is 110V but EU registered.
Bahamas has little haulout possibilities for a
survey.
Florida - never been there,
east coast FL suppose to have little sailing appeal, few
anchorages,
marinas very expensive plus there is the tax issue for selling a foreign flagged vessel; USVI - same as FL plus no
haul out; BVIs nice but pricey, has a haul out;
Puerto Rico - has a haul out, difficult to get to from EU; St. Martin - good connections from both EU and US, good haul out possibilities, nice island.
Any insights?
