Reduction in value of damaged boat?

What is a good estimate about the diminution in value of a boat that was seriously damaged but fully repaired, compared to an identical boat that was never damaged to begin with? I’m not talking about a boat that sunk or took on water; I’m thinking more about the kind of damage that would be sustained in a hurricane while the boat was on the hard. E.g Dismasting; Coachroof and other topside fiberglass damage; Stanchions and standing rigging lost. Etc.

That is, if a never-damaged boat is worth $400,000, what would you pay for a boat in identical condition but which sustained damages that required $100,000 or more to repair her?

Any ideas?

Significantly less and you need to disclose this to any potential buyers

Re: Reduction in value of damaged boat?

Depends on the boat and the repair

A rare boat with a 100% repair, very little.

A dime a dozen boat with a 100% repair, I’d wager 15-20%

A dime a dozen boat with a safe but you can tell type of repair, 25-40%
