Need advice on cost of ownership and upkeep

Hey guys. I’m looking into buying my first real boat and I’m trying to figure out what I can expect to pay for annual upkeep etc. I’m looking at a few different boats, but they’re all about 22’ and from the 70’s or 80’s and cost around $3000. I want to understand what kind of maintenance costs I should be prepared for. I’ve already figured out storage (800 for summer, 250 for winter) and insurance (liability only), but other than that I don’t really know what to expect in terms of expenses. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm guessing your talking about a trailor sailor , if you are We had one and other than: comfortable PFD's, Basic Map GPS, VHF radio, solar pannels for the flat screen TV, new sails and updating rigging, bottom paint, cost of truck to pull it, tune up on out board, at least 2 anchors, mooring buoys, running all lines to the cockpit , If the boat your looking at already has these things there's no real cost. Oh yes there is probably a boating test/licence also tab's and tax licencing yearly.

Over 5 years my 26 footer has cost about $350 a month including morring, insurance, repairs and a few upgrades.

Mooring is about $150 per month
Insurance is about $30 per month

So maintenance is about $170 per month.

Major items done in last 5 years

Traveler replacement
New Genny
Furler repair
Many deck hardware blocks replaced
New head
New genny sheets
Anti fouling 3 times

Major items that are in backlog and not funded

Engine overhaul - ~$4,000
Topsides painting ~$1,000
Interior refit ~$1,500

These items I would have liked to acrue the money for but didn't. When I spend this money the 5 year maintenance bill goes up about $100 to $270 and total costs up to about $450

Oh yes i should have mentioned that it IS a trailor sailor. You always hear how boats are money pits so i was having trouble believing that ownership could be so relatively cheap
