More data if you're trying to decide older v. newer

Here's more information for those out there like us trying to figure out what boat to buy. We went back and forth on whether to go older boat in decent shape versus newer boat that needed work (newer boat in decent shape was outside our means). We settled on a '92 Privilege 482.

We spent roughly 260k on a boat and then an additional 73k on fixing it up. We thought it would be 40k so we got that pretty wrong. So 333k for the boat. Boat purchase expenses were 6.5k (for our whole search) and other related expenses like import duties, registration and insurance were 13k.

The details are here if you're interested: We plan to publish monthly costs as well. Oh, and after having one of our top criteria be low engine hours, one of our engines up and died on us. Heading back to the States to do triage.

So bottom line is it cost us a lot more than we thought but we think we still paid less than we would have with some other options. We have been in the Bahamas for almost a month now and it has been great. But then again, talk to us after we see about that engine...
Boats, kids, and all that jazz.
