Long distance transport?

Anyone have knowledge on approximate costs to haul and truck a 30 foot, full keel, 10,000 pound sailboat 1000 miles?

(I am still looking for the right boat, so I don't have more details on the boat, but want to have a general idea of costs, to see how the beauty 1000 miles away might compare in total costs with its ugly sister near here.)

Thanks - Bill

Typicly $3-$5 a mile. Unless you have a freind with an HD pick up and can borrow a trailer. 10K can be carried easily by todays 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

I moved a 31 ft. 11,000 pound sailboat from Monroe, Mi to New Jersey, about 700 miles. It cost $2800.00 plus tolls and the driver held me up for another $400 in "cost" when he dropped the boat off. The problem is the trailer as most sailboats are very tall, mine was over 13 ft.. Unless they have the right trailer they can't go under the over passes. Your beam would also be another issue on some roads. Buyer beware.

At least one of the boats we heard about was on an inland lake without navigable waters to the ocean, so not for that one.
