Re: Is anyone else interested in historical / trending data for used boat sales?

KWISPEL - If you consider which party has the information (seller) versus which party has no information but does have the motivation to know prices (buyer) then the reason why that wonderful idea never emerged as reality on this site may become clear. Once buyers have bought then they know the price - but they also know that someday they will be sellers. The variety of boat models, age, range of conditions, level of equipment on board, urgency of seller, and locations etc makes the price range from lowest to highest so huge as to make the value of the data you'd get questionable anyway. I would take your maximum budget number - and then go buy the best boat you possibly can for half that number (you'll need the other half for the boat eventually anyway)

There’s not a whole lot of point in knowing historical sales data. Firstly the pricing is that which the market is bearing today not yesterday.

Secondly if you look around , you’ll quickly see the range of asking prices and the outlier pricing stands out.

Assume 10% below average asking and you are at the typical selling price.
