Interesting Development in the Oz / NZ Market ?

G'Day All,

I've just received an interesting e-mail from a reliable journalist pal in New Caledonia. He reports that there are a considerable number of European yotties there who have altered their circumnavigation plans, and now intend to sell their yachts in either Oz or New Zealand. Over the past few years we've encountered a few who had these plans, but this seems to be a step increase in the "selling fraction". One wonders what this will do to the market in those countries.

I thought that those of you considering foreign purchase might be interested in the situation.

Cheers,

Jim

So they see the NZ market as a possibility? My impression is boats are not moving there unless they are bargain priced.

I don't know the answer to that. Just an observation by an on-scene dockwalker in Noumea. But, it could be that the Europeans have seen the high asking prices in Oz/Nz and assumed that they represent equally high selling prices... who knows?

Again, it will be interesting to see what really happens.

Cheers,

Jim
