Insured in Japan

Asked this question on an another forum, got no reply, thought I'd try my luck here.

Canadian boat in the Philippines leaving in a few days for Japan. We are uninsured. We have been told by other boats, and by Japanese authorities, that we will require insurance to enter Japan, if only third party. We have also heard there is a way to get around it on entry, then buy insurance while there, but I think we'd just like to get it settled... quickly.

If you know the name of an insurer, in Canada or anywhere, who offers third-party coverage to yachts sailing internationally at a reasonable price I appreciate hearing about them.

My experience is that you will be better off getting the third party insurance locally when you arrive--international countries don't understand the local laws and requirements, and charge accordingly.
