Re: Insurence in Caribbean urgent...

A good start would be to contact CF member Susan, aka TabbyCat for info about offerings from the underwriters that her firm represents.

Here's a Google translation of what I wrote above...

Un buon inizio sarebbe quello di contattare dell' Susan, TabbyCat, per informazioni sulle offerte dai sottoscrittori che la sua azienda rappresenta.

Pantaneus will insure boats there, but if it stays year round, they will require it be hauled out and in a hurricane cradle during the season. Any insurer will likely require a survey before covering your boat, and will put some minimal warranties regarding crew and open passages.

Re: Insurance in the Caribbean . . . Urgent !

I have just completed obtaining quotes for ins. in the Caribbean. Pantaenius did NOT require haul out - just required a hurricane plan. Best quote came from ORM Offshore Risk Mgt thru a Lloyds underwriter -- way less than others and good coverage w/o 'bad' terminology. The first few quotes, however, from them were higher, so discuss with them in detail. Email them at mail *at* offshorerisk *dot*com. Anyone have good/bad experiences with ORM before I sign on dotted line?

Re: Insurance in the Caribbean . . . Urgent !

ORM is a broker/agent just like many others including I.M.I.S. International Marine Insurance Services
and Blue Water Insurance and lots of others. They take your information and put it out to the actual insurance companies and report back to you what they can find and the prices (plus their commission).
- - I.M.I.S. has a unique policy available for 2 person crews which most other companies will not handle in some circumstances. So I would suggest contacting I.M.I.S.
