My
boat lives in the
Caribbean. It has, on and off for the past 25 years. This week I received my
insurance renewal. My
current carrier is declining ALL coverage for named storms (Yachtline). My agent did provide an alternative that more than doubled last years premium (almost $6000/yr for $150,000
hull value). The
boat is currently in Jolly Harbour
Antigua and a friend from there recommended a local agent for MASSY UNITED
INSURANCE COMPANY based in
Barbados. Their cost is very reasonable (about what I paid last year), I DO NOT have to haul the boat with the sticks out for the summer and they DO cover named storms. I checked them out on A. M. Best insurance rating web site and they are quite highly rated and seem to be well regarded. Does anyone have any experience with this company or any comments about using a
Barbados based company?
