Re: Insurance company needed - US and SoPac

My wife and I just handled the same issue. We were covered to the Bahamas then Progressive could do no more for us. We own a 1973 Cal 2-46 and we know how hard it is to get an older boat covered for cruising especially in hurricane season.
We had several experienced cruisers recommend:

Russell Jamieson, VP
26 Oleander St, Cocoa, FL 32922
Office: (321) 459-9905
Fax: (321) 459-3699

www.GoAtlassInsurance.com

We did decide to go with them.

Atlas is broker who might use lots of different underwriters. Who did you actually get insurance from and does it cover ocean passages as the OP is looking for?

The broker who sold us the boat used to own it too. When he had it, he used https://www.novamarinsurance.com, and said that Teri Chamberlain - his agent - should be able to get us covered, as she knows the boat.

I'm also inquiring at Topsail and a few others listed.

Pricey. Great Lakes is a German underwriter, dispite the name.
With the current offshore marine market you pretty much have to go with what's offered, as the choices are slim picking.
