Re: I'm rejected. NEED Insurance
I have a 1981 Corbin, Geico, whom I insure my cars with rejected me. No explanation.
I insured through State Farm, Great rates and great coverage, one claim paid immediately without questions.
Make sure you have a current survey at least 3 years or less old.

Re: I'm rejected. NEED Insurance
My apartment rental insurance with Amica allowed me to do liability on my boat for cheap.

Re: I'm rejected. NEED Insurance
Did they mention what year they consider too old and what length they think is too short or too long?

I got into yacht insurance beacause our retirement plans are to move aboard. 2 years later ive been lucky to find carriers to almost cover every need. If you want me to run your numbers send me an email to frank@spacecoastinsurance.com Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Frank

Re: I'm rejected. NEED Insurance
Thank you ALL for your input!
After contacting the vast majority of the suggested insurers/ agencies etc. I have signed on with the following agency:
Greg Hibbard
Oversea Yacht Insurance
Northeast Division – New York
Direct (914) 649-6569 | Mobile (914) 649-6569
greg@overseainsurance.com
Greg was a dream to work with and had our boat underwritten in less than 2 business days.
He was able to get "American Modern" to underwrite my boat for the $1M Liability and 100% hull value (minus 3% deductible) for $682/ Year.
My cruising ground is limited to the Northern tip of Maine to Key West and all inland waterways, for the first year.
I don't have a problem with that limitation because we have zero inclination in this first year to go beyond that. Indeed with daughters (and grandchildren) in both Maine and south Florida, I'm pretty sure we'll be content for a season or so.
Thank you all again for your input!!!!! ~Ed & Lori

At least you were immediately rejected.
After my Geico /BoatUS lapsed, I tried to renew it, but they went through the whole thing as if I was a new customer. I had the old policy number and they used that, asking questions to make sure it was the same boat etc.
After about ten minutes on the phone, and making the disclaimer they would use everything gathered (including my Social Security number) they then said flatly, "We no longer insure multihulls." GDSOB'S !!
That's my second screw job by that company. Imho, they are all evil.
I have never had a claim EVER, and all I wanted was liability for a bottom paint haul out.

Re: I'm rejected. NEED Insurance
Try Blue Water Ins, Jupiter, Fla. I've had our1989 43'Taswell insured by them since we left the Medd and arrives in the Caribb. Never had a claim (even though we went thru the 2 hurricaines in 2017), but they've been responsive. FWIW, we carrry full hull ins, as well as liability, fuel spill, and med ins.

Re: I'm rejected. NEED Insurance
I’m sorry if I offend, but I have zero compassion for those screwed or dropped by GEICO. Their shenanigans are legion in the auto world, and there are multiple threads here on the fine print to screw boat owners going back to when GEICO usurped BOATUS.
Try Progressive or others mentioned.
