Help please. Has anyone as a foreigner bought an ex charter boat in Thailand ?

I am from Canada and been dealing on a charter boat in Thailand. Has anyone purchased a boat from Thailand? How does the procedure go for transferring ownership and taxes? I have not seen anywhere where someone has purchased though I have heard rumours of people taking possession in langkawi. I have also seen on line that foreigners cannot own Thai boats. I am assuming that means register there. I plan to register in my home country Canada.
My question is after you survey and the deal is accepted what is the procedure for clearing out the vessel from Thailand. Obtaining cruising permit to leave. I assume the vessel has to be officially removed from Thai ownership registry in Thailand and ownership transferred online to new owners home country while in Thailand? Or do you have to leave boat in former charter owners name and take Possession in a different country instead? Wondering how you leave with a foreign boat you didn’t technically check in with??? Also, is VAT payable? By who? I would appreciate anyone’s help who has experience with this. I am not new to sailing. Just foreign purchase. Thanks in advance.
