health insurance

Hi.

I've been looking through all sorts of insurances for me and my girlfriend. It's quite a challenge going through exclusions and whatnots and nothing from our own country will cover for us... We're looking for more of an emergency insurance and not the typical health-plan-stuff. And it has to cover blue water sailing (which is often an exclusion when you get to that part...)

But!

I (think) that I've found two interesting insurances - does anybody know anything about these two? Has anyone had anything to do with either of them? Are they any good, or do you know of another company/insurance that would suffice?

the two I've found are:

Atlas travel - travel insurance, ca 1700usd/y deductible 1000usd/y
(man 33 + woman 30)
Atlas Travel® Insurance | HCC Medical Insurance Services

IMG helth insurance - ca 1400usd/y deductible 1000usd/y
http://www.imglobal.com/...l-medical-insurance.aspx

If anyone has any clue at all I would be really greatful!

Re: health insurance

I dunno about those companies. I have world nomads. Check the site, tick the boxes for area required and then select additional activities like sailing more then 2M offshore. Let us know how they compare please

The IMG policy has some pretty restrictive pre-existing condition terms and even when they accept them they limit coveragre to essentially no-coverage ($50K).
Atlas pre-existing limits are even tighter.

Re: health insurance

You might try Al Golden at IMIS, they also carry international medical plans. If they can't sell to you in Stockholm, they might have some good advice anyway. Al & company are true pros, many years and only praise from all parties.

The insurer's reputation is as important as what the policy promises. My US insurance, with a major carrier with a good rep, played games by taking four months to issue a policy number to me. During those four months, with no policy number all I could do was pay bills out of cash and then wait to submit them for reimbursement. Cute way to deny coverage, for four months after it has been paid for. (Especially since that number would have been assigned on the day coverage was first paid for.)

Medevac and air ambulance coverage may also be critical to you. Many don't fully cover transporting your partner or other "non-essential" options. That's where a professional broker's knowledge really can pay for itself.
